As an adoptive mom of children with significant early childhood trauma and as a special education advocate, I was immediately interested in the Breaking Chains Course. Since adopting in 2015, I have immersed myself in trauma informed literature and courses, but have never learned as much as I did in this course. From the very beginning of this course , I was able to apply new trauma informed strategies, access printable resources, and share new knowledge with coworkers! I woke up each morning with an eagerness and passion to listen to the daily module. I couldn't wait to learn more! Each lesson was taught with respect to diversity, flexibility, and compassion for all learners and survivors of trauma. Heidi's ability to connect with her learning community with a virtual platform was very impressive. I felt like I was in the same room with her! After this course, I was able to amend my student's IEP by implementing more trauma informed accommodations. Most importantly, I was able to share the Breaking Chain Course with other school and district personnel. I am beyond thankful to Heidi for always being available for questions and discussions. I highly recommend this course to everyone! It will be life changing.
